Kale Cultivation in Cambodia

Growing Kale in Cambodia

KaleAccording to my experience, I don't have enough land to cultivate, so I plant in pots, mostly during the cold season from November to January. It's easy to grow, and it produces a lot of leaves quickly. I enjoy using its leaves as fresh vegetables in various Khmer dishes.

According to the document, there are more than three types of kale. I grow the curly-leaf variety, as shown in the photo. Kale also provides several health benefits—refer to the document or consult a doctor for more information.

To grow kale, select high-quality seeds. I prefer using the curly kale variety. Awaken the seedlings (see video:awake seed)

I sow the seeds in a tray. When they grow 3 or 4 leaves, I nurture the seedlings to make them strong, or I can plant the seedlings directly from the tray. Either way, I ensure the seedlings get enough sunlight to promote growth and strength.

After planting in the pot for three months, I can start harvesting the leaves for food. I continue to harvest the leaves for about a year, and my kale keeps producing more leaves. I also make sure to use my natural liquid compost to encourage more leaf growth. It's a very nice crop.

Kale is not easy to care for during the rainy and hot seasons. Additionally, this plant is easily attacked by worms. So, I regularly check and monitor the plants, use natural pesticide that I produce, and pray and water them twice a week. This results in healthy growth.
