Method to Reproduce Strawberries (Cambodia)

Method to Reproduce Strawberries in Pots

Sharing my successful experience of around five years with planting strawberries in Cambodia, I can say that growing strawberries in Cambodia's weather is challenging. The ideal temperature range for strawberries is 25 to 30°C. They need at least 6-8 hours of sunlight per day.

Strawberries grow well in compost-rich, loamy soil with excellent drainage. They should not be planted in frost conditions. It's important to maintain moderate humidity levels to prevent fungal diseases and promote healthy growth.

Natural Mushroom (Khmer called "Phset Kanhcho")

Natural Mushroom - Known in Khmer as Phset Kanhcho

Based on experiences, this type of mushroom, known in Khmer as Phset Kanhcho (Kanhcho Mushroom), that is growing in Cambodia. It thrives in soil with termite nests and moisture, typically from late August to October.

They are most commonly found in piles of earth heaped up by termites. There are three species: (1) Kanhcho Dom Bok, (2) Kanhcho Pong, and (3) Kanhcho Angkam.

This mushroom is a favorite food for Khmer farmers, who use it to make soup, fry it, mix it with ingredients and Prahok (a salted and fermented fish paste), then roast it. You will clearly understand how to make soup by watching the video at the link: Natural Mushroom (Khmer)

Process of making coconut coir

Coconut coir is a fantastic solution for enhancing soil quality and encouraging healthy plant growth due to various advantages:

Coconut coir has exceptional water retention properties, ensuring that plants receive continuous moisture. It improves aeration, prevents soil compaction, and stimulates root development. With a neutral pH, coconut coir is ideal for a variety of plants. It is a renewable and environmentally friendly resource that reduces waste and encourages sustainable gardening practices.

Additionally, coconut coir is resistant to fungus growth, resulting in a healthier environment for plants. Due to its high cation exchange capacity, it can efficiently hold and release nutrients.

Cambodian people use coconut coir to make compost soil, hatch grasshoppers, cover crops, nourish wood branches, feed eels, and nurture seeds, including other various needs.

Through link you know the process of making coconut coir: Process of making coconut coir   it located in Krong Battambang, Battambang province, Cambodia

How to plant mulberry in the basket - by cutting

How to plant Mulberry Trees

Location and Soil: Mulberries need full sun, well-drained soil, and 6-8 hours of sunlight daily. The soil should have a neutral pH of 5.5 to 7.0 and be enriched with compost.

Method to Plant: I have planted it by seed in the past by digging a hole twice the root ball size, planting, filling with soil, and watering it. I also planted it by cutting the nutrient root on the tree for 45 days old or when root was older and I nurtured it for 3 to 4 weeks before planting. Another method is to cut a 6-8 inch branch, remove the lower leaves, and plant it in moist soil, keeping it warm wait it grow the leaves and flowers - around 45 days old.

Monitoring and Caring: Regularly, especially in the first year, keep the soil moist and apply mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk. In early spring, use balanced fertilizer, but avoid fertilizing. In late winter, remove dead or diseased branches and shape the tree. Monitor for pests and use organic pesticides to protect the leaves or water the tree.

See the link to learn how to plant it. In this method, I cut the branch that had rooted on the tree, which I nourished for more than 45 days. I then nurtured it for 4 weeks before planting it. Planting Mulberry

How to plant cabbage in the pot

According to my experience, I have successfully planted cabbage in pots. Now, I would like to share what I've done.

The best time to plant cabbage in Cambodia is during the cold season (October, November, December, January, February). It is not hard to plant, even in pots.

First, I start with nursery seeds, then nurture them to make the seedlings strong before planting.

I use only natural fertilizer that I produce myself, watering at least twice a week. I also use natural pesticides to repel insects. For me, growing cabbage in pots has been an easy experience.
